Job Requirements

Weatherford is hiring a R&D Electrical Project Engineer for our Spencer Road Research & Devolopment facility in Houston, TX.

 

Be part of an innovative and collaborative team developing downhole and surface well test equipment and control solutions.  This role is responsible for new product development from concept to commercialization by overseeing details from creation of functional specifications through detailed design and field testing.  Under minimal supervision, develop the next generation surface and downhole equipment control solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for design of new products and makes improvements to existing products.
  • Performs complex tasks and fulfills broad responsibilities where required outcomes are defined, but methods and procedures may vary based on precedent or professional judgment.
  • Considerable latitude for unreviewed action.
  • Confers with supervisor on unusual matters.
  • Coordinates the work of others on projects and may assign work to and assist less experienced professionals or support staff.

Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 3-7+ years related experience
  • Must have a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in one of the following disciplines; Electrical Engineer, Control System Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer
  • Must have design and programming experience designing PLC control systems for the Hazards areas of on and off-shore rigs.
  • Experience with PLC module selection based on system requirements and needs
  • Working knowledge of Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 and S7-1500 family of modules
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal
  • Experience writing code in Ladder, SCL, FBD, and Graph
  • Experience with sizing cables, circuit breakers, and fuses
  • Experience working with engineers of other disciplines (such as mechanical engineers) to document processes that a PLC and/or HMI must perform
  • Experience in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting electrical panels
  • Experience contributing and/or leading Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Detail-oriented and strong communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience working on SIL-rated systems
  • Siemens Certified Programmer in TIA Portal
  • Siemens Certified Automation Engineer for SIMATIC Safety
  • Need to know special rules for designing electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
  • IECEx Certification, ATEX Certification, UL Certification, CSA Certification, Northern standard, Norsok, IEC 60079
  • Proficient in Creo and Windchill
